What to Look Forward to in Physics?

The Physics Department continues to be a place of curiosity, challenge, and discovery. As we look ahead, we are excited by the ways in which Physics connects classroom learning to the real world, from understanding the universe to developing problem-solving skills that last a lifetime. Most of all, we look forward to seeing our students grow into confident, inquisitive thinkers.

Deepening understanding through hands-on learning lies at the heart of what we do. Through experiments, simulations, and discussions, students move beyond memorising formulae to developing genuine conceptual understanding. Whether exploring motion, electricity, or waves, lessons are designed to spark curiosity and strengthen critical thinking. By applying theory to real objects and articulating their reasoning, students demonstrate the depth of understanding and communication skills we aim to develop in every Physics student.

We are also proud to highlight the remarkable accomplishments of Mun Yau C., a truly exceptional student who continues to inspire the department. Mun Yau C. achieved an A* in A Level Physics, along with Top in the World for Chemistry and Top in Malaysia for Physics, an extraordinary set of achievements that reflects both talent and dedication. Beyond the grades, he stood out as a gifted physicist and mathematician, whose problem-solving approaches and examination strategies have become a source of inspiration for current students. His Physics examination scripts are now used as learning examples, guiding and motivating new cohorts. As a light-hearted tradition, his photograph was proudly displayed outside the Physics classroom, a reminder of what is possible through curiosity, discipline, and perseverance.

Celebrating students’ journeys is just as important as celebrating results. One special moment captured in the attached photograph shows our Year 12 Physics Pizza Celebration, held upon completion of the Year 12 curriculum. It was a meaningful opportunity to pause, enjoy one another’s company, and reflect on a year of hard work. Moments such as these remind us that learning Physics is not only about equations and examinations, but also about fostering a supportive environment in which students feel valued and motivated.

Looking ahead, the Physics Department remains firmly committed to inspiring curiosity, encouraging resilience, and celebrating achievement. We are excited to continue supporting students as they explore new ideas, tackle challenges, and discover the relevance of Physics in everyday life. The future of Physics at our school is bright, and our students are very much at the centre of it.
