International Award Practice Expedition

Last weekend, 26 intrepid Year 9 and 10 students embarked on their International Award practice expedition at The Nest in Putrajaya, and what an adventure it was! Over two days, they braved the jungle heat, tackled steep hills, dodged (or didn’t dodge) leeches, and put their navigation skills to the test. This wasn’t just a walk in the park—it was a full-on expedition, requiring resilience, teamwork, and a solid sense of direction!
The students took their campcraft skills to the next level, mastering fire-starting, setting up camp, and—most impressively—cooking up absolute feasts. Forget basic survival rations; these campers whipped up curries, ramen, and all sorts of delicious meals. They even took the “outdoor experience” one step further by sourcing their own coconuts straight from the trees! Talk about going back to basics.
When they weren’t trekking through the jungle or perfecting their camping skills, the students had the rare chance to unplug from modern technology. With no distractions, they spent time chatting, playing games, and simply enjoying the great outdoors with their friends—something we could all use a little more of!
This expedition was just the beginning. With their newfound skills and confidence, they’re now preparing for the qualifying expedition in the breathtaking Cameron Highlands. If they can handle the heat, hills, and leeches of Putrajaya, they’re more than ready for the next challenge! A huge well done to all the students for their incredible effort—we can’t wait to see what they achieve next.
