Well, we have enjoyed a fantastic start to the academic year in Granville House, and welcomed a wonderful group of new Year 10 students into our fold.

The term so far has certainly had some highlights. Let’s start with our Granville Old Boys – not only did our recent graduates obtain places in many prestigious universities (including Tokyo, Cambridge and Stanford), but the Pearson Edexcel examination board results were also recently published, and Leo achieved the highest mark in Malaysia for mathematics, and Maize achieved the highest mark in Malaysia for physics, and the highest mark in the world for chemistry. More national recognition also came from the sporting side, when Aqil recently clinched the top spot in the recent junior national tour, and became ranked number 1 in the Malaysian national junior tennis rankings – a phenomenal achievement!

It is wonderful to be a part of the lives of Granvillians, and see the quiet, dedicated and diligent efforts that they make to support their community and develop personally. Success has come for some already, and is on the near horizon for many: whether it be Kaede earning the most Merits in the house for the second month in a row; Jacob achieving Honours for services to sport, or; Peihu being selected as the Granvillian of the Month for November – it is proven that success needs effort, determination and participation. Our gratitude must go to all of those students selected (or elected) this term for roles that both improve their skill set and serve our community: roles such as Prefect, House Captain, Peer Mentor, Subject Ambassador, Language Ambassador, Tutor Group Leader, School Council Member or indeed our many sports’ team and academy members. Our pupils already have incredibly busy schedules, and to see students continuously making efforts above and beyond their already high commitments, is truly humbling.

Finally, what is life without a little fun, and this term we have also found time to enjoy ourselves tremendously. Whether it be the inter-house competitions against arch rivals Propert, racing go carts, breaking out of escape rooms, painting, socialising, hitting a few golf balls, dressing up as vampires, enjoying a pool party, or simply finding time to play a game of table tennis with friends – our lives can be great! Here is looking forward to the rest of the year!
