Fostering Future Entrepreneurs and Leaders: Business, Accounting, and Economics at Epsom College in Malaysia

The Business, Accounting, and Economics Department at Epsom College in Malaysia has been buzzing with activity this term. These three dynamic subjects, offered at both GCSE and A-Level, provide students with an engaging opportunity to connect classroom learning with the real world. Our curriculum goes beyond theory, encouraging students to apply their knowledge practically by stepping into the shoes of mini-entrepreneurs. A shining example of this is our student-run coffee shop, where students manage marketing and accounting operations, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in the process.

To enrich their learning journey, we regularly welcome guest speakers from the business world, who share their insights and experiences. These sessions inspire our students and give them a clearer understanding of the challenges and opportunities that await them in the fields of business and economics. Additionally, we provide personalised university guidance, helping our students secure places at top institutions such as the London School of Economics, Stanford University, the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, Warwick University, and Imperial College London.

The learning experience extends beyond the classroom through the initiatives of our Business, Economics, and Accounting Society. This term, the society has embarked on several exciting projects:

Creating a Website for Student Blogs: Students are designing a website to showcase blogs on business and economics news. These blogs aim to simplify complex topics, include visuals to aid understanding, and feature properly cited references to ensure accuracy.

Chinese New Year Sale: Members are putting their entrepreneurial skills to the test by planning a festive sale. From brainstorming ideas to crafting promotional materials and organising logistics, this project offers a fantastic opportunity to apply practical business skills.

Group Project Competition: Students are developing innovative products or services, combining education with fun. The project includes crafting business plans, conducting market research, and pitching their ideas, with the winning concept chosen by vote.

These initiatives reflect the department’s commitment to fostering creativity, collaboration, and real-world skills. We are immensely proud of our students at Epsom College in Malaysia and their enthusiasm for exploring the ever-changing and fascinating world of business, economics, and accounting.
