Being a Social Prefect at Epsom College in Malaysia

Being a Social Prefect at Epsom College in Malaysia is all about bringing people together and making school life more enjoyable. Whether it’s organising fun events, coming up with creative ideas, or simply finding ways to support the community, our goal is to make Epsom a place where everyone feels connected and can enjoy their time.
While academics are a huge part of Epsom’s life, we believe the social side is just as important. This year, our focus is on helping students balance the pressures of school with opportunities to relax, have fun, and connect with others. From events like Open Mic Nights to Festive Socials, we want to create spaces where students can take a break, build friendships, and feel part of something bigger.
Collaboration is a big part of what we do, and it’s a core value at Epsom. By encouraging more interaction within the community, we help build stronger bonds between students and create an environment where everyone can thrive. Especially in a boarding school setting, these events are a chance to step out of routines, try something new, and feel more at home.
To kick things off this year, we organised the 6th Form Ice-Breaking Social to welcome new Year 12s into the Sixth Form community. It was such a fun event, with games like balloon challenges and charades, ending with an epic dance party! It was a great way for everyone to get to know each other and settle in.
Our biggest event so far has been the Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night celebrations. It was our first major event for the whole school, and it brought together students, staff, and parents. Even though we faced some challenges along the way, we stepped up as a team and made it work. The night was packed with activities – from spooky decorations and costumes to a bonfire and fireworks. The haunted house was a huge hit too, and we’re so proud of how everything turned out.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to keep the momentum going with even more creative and exciting events. Stay tuned for what’s coming next – we can’t wait to share it with you!
In the end, being a Social Prefect isn’t just about organising events. It’s about building a community where people can come together, feel supported, and have fun. By hosting events that bring joy and balance to student life, we hope to make everyone’s Epsom experience even better.
