Parkrun at Putrajaya: Running Together as a Community

On 24 January, a group of 30 students from Year 8 all the way up to Year 13 headed to Putrajaya for their very first parkrun. Even though it was an incredibly early start, the turnout was fantastic; almost every single boarding house and year group was represented, showing the growing popularity of running at Epsom.

One of the mantras of parkrun is that it is for everyone: fast or slow, young or old, walker or runner. Each of our students took something different from the experience. Some treated it as a competitive sprint, while others opted for a social jog, chatting as they soaked in the sunrise and the beautiful scenery around Putrajaya Lake. It was not just about racing; it was about getting stuck in and being active together. Despite the rising heat, everyone pushed through to the finish line.

By the end, there were plenty of tired legs, but everyone was in great spirits. Seeing students from different year groups and houses cheering one another on was the highlight of the morning. It was a successful first trip, and we hope to make this a regular fixture to keep our students active, fit, and feeling good on a Saturday morning.
