Bringing Mamma Mia! to Life

There’s an undeniable buzz in the rehearsal room as our Mamma Mia! cast pours their energy into bringing this vibrant, sun-soaked musical to life. Over the past term, students have been hard at work learning choreography, shaping characters, mastering harmonies, and building the kind of backstage camaraderie that makes school theatre such a magical experience.

One of the most inspiring parts of this process has been watching students show up to each rehearsal with commitment, creativity, and genuine enthusiasm. There’s something remarkable about witnessing young performers collaborate so consistently, each rehearsal bringing them one step closer to a shared goal. It’s in these moments that theatre truly shines: the joy isn’t only on the stage, but in the process itself.

Here are a few words from our leads, Najahan N. and Hawa S.:

“We find that despite our backgrounds in whole school productions that musical productions in general have been previously unexplored. Mrs Calder, Mr Crann and the Mamma Mia! team have curated a smooth and enjoyable experience of being part of such an ambitious musical project. No daunting role, lead or ensemble has been met with anything less than precise practice and care. Each and every one of us has our full musical and drama potential brought out. Rehearsals for Mamma Mia! have hit the ground running, and we continue to alternate weekly between the practice of our songs and the run-throughs of each act. Our practices are consistent and immersive. Our weekly rehearsals are split between lead-focused and whole ensemble practices, which allows us to cover different sections and aspects of the play, culminating in one smooth run through. Working, singing and acting with fellow peers in such an ambitious, energetic show such as Mamma Mia! has been nothing short of fun, eye-opening and classic ear-worm listening! Join us in January for an unforgettable experience.”
