A (very local) Hub of Entrepreneurship and Community Service

Welcome to Holman House, where students not only live but also learn valuable life skills, particularly entrepreneurship. Led by a diverse team of prefects from Year 7 to Year 9, our community is on a mission to change the world—one small step (and a few bake sales) at a time. With our limited resources and boundless enthusiasm, we’re aiming for the stars, hoping to make a tiny but real impact both within and beyond our school.
Entrepreneurial Spirit in Action
Throughout the year, students are encouraged to identify opportunities and develop projects within our school that will later help people facing real-world challenges. As we develop these projects, we’re also honing our entrepreneurial skills. For instance, our prefects recently organized a booth in the school bazaar, showcasing their business skills by managing the stalls, handling finances, and marketing their products. The event was such a hit that students were practically swimming in sales and found themselves counting more money than they ever imagined—a delightful problem to have! The event raised 700 RM for refugee children, demonstrating how entrepreneurship can drive positive social (tiny) change.
Community Service: Giving Back with Passion
Our students actively engage in various initiatives to support those in need. During Cultural Day, students took the lead in cooking and selling food and drinks. The funds raised will be used to purchase musical instruments for a refugee school, enriching the lives of children who have faced adversity. This initiative not only tested their cooking prowess but also instilled a sense of empathy and responsibility towards the community.
Leadership, Teamwork, and Spreading the Impact
The role of prefects in Holman House is pivotal, serving as mentors and leaders who guide their peers through various projects and activities. Through these experiences, students develop essential leadership skills, learning to collaborate, communicate effectively, and make decisions under pressure. These qualities are invaluable in both their academic pursuits and future careers. The projects and involvement of our prefects are slowly spreading to all our students, fostering a sense of community and empowering them to make a difference beyond the classroom. Soon, this spirit of entrepreneurship and community service will spread to the whole school, much like our Holman Book Donation Drive did last year
Our students are doing amazing things, learning and growing with each project. We’re excited to see where their passion and dedication take them next. Here’s to making a difference, one step at a time!
