Mouratoglou Academy Malaysia @ Epsom College in Malaysia Tennis Highlights:
October 2024
October 2024 has been a remarkable month for MTA @ Epsom College’s tennis program, with outstanding performances across several tournaments and events. Here’s a look back at the successes and achievements that have stood out.
UTR Tournament (12-15th October at Epsom College, Malaysia)
Epsom College recently hosted the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) Tournament, a prestigious event that saw 70 players from various backgrounds come together for fierce competition. The tournament, held from October 12th to 15th, saw impressive results from our students.
Notably, in the Young Junior Boys, Shun Kunimitsu finished as Runner-Up. In the Young Junior Girls, Amber Zhao also took Runner-Up. In the Junior 1 category, Epsom players dominated: Aramis Young emerged as Champion, while Ikunoshin Tateishi and Shino Yamamoto secured Runner-Up and 2nd Runner-Up finishes, respectively.
The Junior 2 category saw a strong performance from Gerald Chiang, who finished as
Runner-Up, while in the Junior Pro I category, Xie Kuangyi – Yordan claimed Champion with Ananya Gupta as Runner-Up and Mei Uchida finishing 2nd Runner-Up. Lastly, in the Junior Pro II category, Jake Ting Long Hou triumphed as Champion. These remarkable results reflect the hard work and talent of our players.
TennisMalaysia Junior Tour Leg 5 (Melaka)
In another major achievement, MTA @ Epsom College sent a team of 17 players and 4 coaches to participate in the TennisMalaysia Junior Tour Leg 5 in Melaka. This was one of the largest contingents from a single academy in Malaysia, highlighting MTA @ Epsom’s growing presence in the national tennis scene.
The tournament produced some notable results:
- Boys 16&U Singles Champion: Aqil Adibi
- Boys 16&U Doubles 2nd Runner-Up: Jake Ting Long Hou
- Girls 16&U Singles 2nd Runner-Up: Lynn Lim
- Girls 14&U Singles Runner-Up: Riona Yamamoto (at just 12 years old)
- Girls 12&U Doubles Runner-Up: Shino Yamamoto & Seina Muraoka
These results underscore the dedication and talent of our players, many of whom are still young yet competing at a very high level.
MTP High Performance Scholar Camp (28th October – 2nd November)
To close out October, Epsom College proudly hosted the MTP High Performance Scholar Camp from October 28th to November 2nd. This camp brought together 30 promising young players, including the top 14&U Asian players boys and girls, for an intensive week of training. It was an excellent opportunity for our players to measure their skills against some of the best talent in Asia. The camp proved to be an invaluable experience for our participants, pushing them to elevate their games while developing a greater understanding of the international tennis landscape.

October 2024 has been a month of significant milestones for MTA @ Epsom College, with our players achieving success on multiple fronts. From hosting and excelling in the UTR tournament to making a strong impact at the Tennis Malaysia Junior Tour, and wrapping up with an exceptional performance at the MTP High Performance Scholar Camp, our players are proving themselves to be among the best in Malaysia and beyond. As we look ahead, the future of MTA @ Epsom College tennis looks incredibly promising.
