arr House is named after one of the original supporters and benefactors of Epsom College UK, Dr William Carr, whose generosity was honoured in 1883 with the founding of Carr House. The House is home for boys Years 6 to 9, who share a range of facilities within the accommodation including: study spaces, a keyboard for music rehearsals, recreational facilities, several pantries where the boys enjoy preparing drinks and snacks, together with a range of communal areas where they can socialise.
Carr is a caring and friendly community, with a relaxed family atmosphere. The Housemistress, Assistant House Master, Resident Tutor, Matron and Tutors are available ‘around the clock’ to encourage, support and challenge each individual pupil. The famous African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child” is very applicable to Carr House as the Carr House Family work together to love and care for each boy in order for him to become all he can be.
The ‘transition years’ provide immense opportunities for every child to take part in a range of academic, sporting and performing arts pursuits. Promoting independence, resilience and responsibility are extremely important to us alongside the great lessons the boys learn as they become great ambassadors for their house, learning how to fly the Carr flag high in all they do. We aim to lay solid foundations for our pupil’s development of key academic, social and leadership skills that will be crucial for their future success, both in the senior boarding houses and beyond.
