Epsom takes the mental and physical wellbeing of its pupils seriously. We strive to ensure that all the children in our care are happy, healthy, cared for and respected.
From time to time each of us needs a helping hand, and counselling can provide a child with much-needed time to take stock, reflect, and begin to repair.
In recognition of the important role talking therapies play in our wellbeing, the College has an on-site Counsellor available to all pupils. This service is free, confidential and pupils can both self-refer or be referred by their Housemaster/Housemistress or Head of Prep School for support. At Epsom the Counsellor is Mrs Pajan Kaur.
Who can be helped?
The kind of difficulties that the College Counsellor can offer support with in school include:
- stress and anxiety
- bereavement issues
- emotional and conduct issues
- anger management
- social adjustment, loneliness, friendship difficulties
- depression, suicidal thoughts and deliberate self-harm
- eating disorders
- emotional aspects of learning and physical disabilities
- separation and attachment difficulties
- trauma and post-traumatic stress
How to arrange an appointment?
An initial appointment can be made by emailing counsellor@epsomcollege.edu.my
During the first meeting, pupils will discuss the ways in which Ms Pajan might be able to help. Whilst the content of the meetings is kept confidential (unless there is a safeguarding risk to the pupil or other pupils in doing so) Ms Pajan will always ensure that one member staff is aware she is meeting them (this would usually be the pupil’s Housemaster/Housemistress or Head of Prep School).
