Senior School
We operate a 5 day week for Senior School pupils with a wide range of activities provided to pupils to give them every opportunity to excel academically, socially and personally as well as to flourish in sport, the arts, leadership and service. We provide a holistic education, mindful that we are educating the next generation of leaders – scientists, doctors, politicians and humanitarians – who will need to be principled and moral, resilient and adaptable. Our wide range of activities develops the whole child and challenges them beyond the curriculum.

We believe that to do anything well takes time and application, so we provide our pupils with the gift of time. It would be impossible for any one pupil to access all that we have to offer, but their Housemaster or Housemistress will encourage and guide them to achieve the ideal mix based on their individual strengths, interests and potential.
Creative timetabling, small classes, inspirational teaching and tutor support enables students to achieve their full academic potential.
Daily Routine in the Senior School
All pupils, both Day and Boarding, start their day in their House. Boarding pupils take their breakfast in the Dining Hall, while Day pupils generally begin arriving at the College from 8.00am.
Monday morning is the whole College Assembly starting at 8.10am. Other mornings start with Form Tutor sessions, House or Key Stage Assemblies – a crucial part of the pastoral care we provide.
From Monday to Friday, there are five lessons before lunch with three lessons each afternoon, before time is dedicated to sport, music, drama and other activities.
Throughout the day
Pupils return to their Houses for registration, for morning and lunchtime breaks and after lessons in preparation for CCAs.
The end of the day
Whilst Day pupils go home each evening after checking out with their HMM in Houses at 5.30pm, Boarders have dinner before evening registration and supervised Prep time. However, evening events are often held, where pupils enjoy a range of talks, plays, performances and concerts. Time before bed may be spent socialising with friends in the House, playing basketball in the Sports Centre or keeping fit in the gym.
Weekday Boarders go home after lessons on a Friday to return either by 9.30pm Sunday evening or 8.00am Monday morning.
Even on weekends the College remains busy with many Boarders remaining on-site. During this time the Houses remain fully staffed to support and care for the pupils, with frequent weekend trips. CCAs and House activities arranged by staff to ensure the Boarders are stimulated and have fun. Senior Boarders may visit each other’s Houses with permission from Housemasters and Housemistresses.
Equally, with prior permission, Full Boarders may spend time at weekends with the parents of their friends.
In all cases there is considerable flexibility to allow for the changing circumstances of families.
Prep School
Daily Routine in the Prep School
The Prep School timetable follows a slightly different routine to the rest of the School. It is specifically tailored to the needs and learning styles of our younger pupils.
The day starts at 8.00am and is followed by assemblies or time spent with the child’s class teacher.
Pupils then have four lessons before breaking for a slightly earlier lunch. Prep School pupils end their days at 4.00pm, though opportunities exist for Prep School pupils to join after school clubs and for Senior Prep Pupils to attend a number of Senior School activities.
TAKE A LOOK AT THE Prep SCHOOL CURRICULUM
Whilst there are no formal lessons on a Saturday, Prep School pupils are provided with the opportunity to attend Saturday morning school on an optional basis where they can develop their swimming and sporting skills and engage in craft based activities with their friends between 8.40-11.30am. Saturday morning school is supervised and run by members of the Prep School and PE Department staff.
For those who wish, there is also fully-staffed supervision available after school between 4.00-6.00pm.
A school shuttle bus service is also in operation six days a week to assist a pupil’s transportation needs.
